CAD Engineer (Role 1 and Role 2) – Technical Team

Department: Technical

Reporting to: Technical Manager

Direct reports: 0

Job Type: Full-Time Contract Permanent

Hours: 8:50 till 17:00 Monday - Thursday, 8:50 till 16:30 Friday

Overview

Delivering technical and engineering knowledge throughout the business.  Developing both internal and external relationships to attract new customers and develop current customers to help the business grow.  

You will help increase sales revenue and customer retention across both the UK and International markets in agreement with team goals. You will work within the technical team supporting all departments of the business and building upon our engineering heritage.  You will have the opportunity to take control and create your own success story, as this team develops.

You must have a strong work ethic, be solution-orientated, proactive and flexible, with customer focus and a strong background in engineering and design. 

Job brief

  • Working to team and individual targets and goals
  • Provide technical support to customers and colleagues
  • Assist with the launch of new products in line with Sales and Supply Chain plans
  • Provide technical and design improvements to current products for Marketing
  • Providing drawings and technical information for use in Production
  • Provide technical details for customers using our CAD services/files
  • Support Production with technical support and advice
  • Generation of 3D models using SolidWorks, working with component parts as well as managing large assemblies and ensuring all drawings follow business standards
  • Providing the Marketing team with 2D drawings and technical details for use in promotional material, both online and offline including digital collateral of both studio and application shots
  • Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with standard company procedure
  • Ensure all drawings, designs, quotes and parts are produced to an agreed timescale
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure drawings are completed to specifications

Responsibilities

  • Dealing directly with customers and managing customer specials from enquiry to order
  • Helping improve sales and revenues through technical support for customers
  • Develop new products in line with customer demand and market opportunities
  • Increase sales by supplying technical information and support
  • Provide technical drawings and data for products
  • Provide support to QHSE when required
  • Build, manage and complete all CAD drawings as required
  • Producing ISO standard drawings for use in both Marketing and Production
  • Maintaining the CAD library, making drawing changes and issuing ECN (Engineering Change Notice) documents when required
  • Producing true to life application designs and images using a combination of Solidworks and Visualise software
  • Contributing to the development of good practice and processes through involvement with the Marketing and Supply Chain team
  • Improving technical knowledge and engineering support to the business as a whole

Requirements

Prerequisites

  • Strong customer focus
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Proficient in the use of 3D CAD software Solidworks, 3D modelling and rendering
  • Well-developed engineering skills
  • A meticulous attention to detail
  • The ability to complete tasks in the required timescales
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Track record of technical support
  • A team player
  • A strong and positive communicator
  • Highly organised to set priorities
  • Up to date on modern engineering processes
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to thrive under pressure
  • MS Office – to a significant level which is demonstrable
  • Good general computer skills
  • Good time keeper
  • Keen to learn and develop

Desired

  • Selling B2B in the engineering, components or parts industries 
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office package
  • Experience in drawing engineering parts, components or engineering machines
  • Experience with Visualise software
  • Experience and use of MS Teams. 
  • Experience with CRMs and business-building tools
