What are Indexing Plungers with Hygienic USIT® Washers?

Indexing Plungers with Hygienic USIT® Washers are stainless steel, spring-loaded locating components engineered to position, lock, or release moving machine parts. Alternatively known as sanitary pull pins or spring plungers, this specialized version features a conical collar designed to seal the mounting point with a matching Hygienic USIT® seal washer.

An indexing plunger holds a machine assembly securely in a defined position, protecting it against unwanted movement caused by lateral forces. To change positions, the operator manually pulls the knob to retract the locating pin. We also offer parking-type (lockout) variations featuring a specialized slot that keeps the pin retracted for extended periods until manually released.

Hygienic Conical Collar: Specially engineered to compress a Hygienic USIT® Seal Washer flush against the mounting surface, creating a cavity-free seal that eliminates bacteria traps at the thread entry.
CIP & SIP Cleanable: Built to withstand Clean-In-Place (CIP) and Sterilisation-In-Place (SIP) regimes, allowing full automated sanitisation without disassembling the component.
Ultra-Smooth Surface Finish: Features an expert surface roughness of Ra < 0.8 µm, making it incredibly difficult for product debris, process fluids, or chemical residues to adhere.
Premium Marine-Grade Steel: All metal components are forged from high-durability 316 Stainless Steel (1.4404) to prevent pitting or oxidation from harsh industrial washdowns.
