Shaft Collars

Shaft collars also known as set collars, are simple mechanical components used to locate and hold components on a shaft. They serve as mechanical stops, locating components, and bearing faces. Circular in design, they are made to fit around a shaft with a tight fit and are secured in place using a set screw or a clamping mechanism. The two main types are set screw collars, which use a screw to directly hold the collar onto the shaft, and clamp collars, which use a clamping force to secure them without marring the shaft. Shaft collars are commonly used in various applications across numerous industries such as motors, gearboxes, conveyors, and agricultural machinery to ensure that components like bearings, sprockets, or gears remain positioned properly during operation. They're made from various materials including stainless steel and steel to suit different environmental conditions and operational requirements.  WDS also stocks a range of shaft collars in various styles including standard fit, semi-split, double-split, threaded and keyway models.
