Inch-Size Clamping Handles in Various Colours
Component and standard parts supplier, WDS Components Ltd, has released a range of die cast clamping handles in inch-size UNC threads for the North American market. The clamping handles are available in a range of sizes and colours and join a growing range of components that WDS has released in inch-size threads.
The handles are ideally suited to provide a clamp in space-restricted applications. Featuring an indexing system with 24 positions, the handle can be lifted when a physical barrier restricts its limit of turn and then re-engaged to continue tightening. The clamping handles are ideal when the application doesn’t allow for 360° rotational tightening and are beneficial when space is tight.
WDS’ inch-size thread clamping handle range includes around 100 variants in total including UNC threads that cover the most commonly used sizes, extending from #10-24 (0.19” major diameter) through to ½”-13. Three sizes of actual handle are also available including 45, 63 and 80 mm and the clamping handles are also available in both male and female format.
The new range is available in three different standard RAL colours including jet black, light grey and pure orange. The actual handle is manufactured from die-cast zinc, selected to provide a high-quality finish in combination with the colour application. Zinc is lighter than steel and is easier to install and use repeatedly as well as being more robust than plastic. The internals of the clamping handle, including the stud and thread, are zinc-plated steel, giving strength and product longevity with an improved finish.
The clamping handles are in stock and full product specifications are located on wdscomponents.com. The website also includes CAD images, available in all major formats, as well as 3D images, which can be viewed with non-specialist software.
The product releases are WDS’ first clamping handles in inch-size threads and join a wide range of components already available in UNC and UNF dimensions. Growing demand for inch-size threads has emerged from UK and international OEMs designing for the North American market. OEMs from the USA, Canada, Central and South American are also increasingly buying direct from WDS’ Leeds manufacturing facility.
WDS’ large stock, ability to source large quantities of items as well as its in-house manufacturing capability, means the component provider is competitive against large-scale American-based suppliers. Despatch can also be made by airfreight for low weight orders or time-critical demands.
