What are threaded inserts and how are they used?

WDS Keylocking Threaded Inserts serve the purpose of swiftly restoring threads that have been stripped, compromised, or worn out. These inserts provide fresh and more robust threads, suitable for both remedying the situation and for incorporation into the initial equipment. Installing and uninstalling these Inserts is a straightforward process, without the need for specialised drills, taps, or pre-winder tools. By driving the Keys into the base material's threads, the insert becomes securely anchored, ensuring stability.

How are these threaded inserts installed?

For visual instructions, refer the image above. Below is the detailed instructions:

Drill & Tap: Drill out the hole with the suitable standard tap drill with a standard 82-100 degree angle. Then tap the new threads with a standard tap.

Screw in the Insert: Screw the insert into the tapped hole until it is 0.25-0.70mm below the surface

Drive the Keys Down: Using a hammer, drive the pins down on the proper threaded insert installation tool. This can be purchased from WDS separately.
