What is a swivel clamping screw?
A swivel clamping screw is a specialized type of grub screw featuring a ball at its end that can pivot. This ball has a flat face designed to securely clamp surfaces that might be uneven or not parallel. These screws are particularly useful in situations where traditional screws might not provide an effective hold due to irregularities in the surfaces being clamped. Swivel clamping screws find application in various industries, such as, metalworking, jig and fixture manufacturing, conveyor systems and automation in general.
What is the difference between a restricted and non restricted ball?
A restricted ball adjustable gripper is where the ball in the end of the gripper cannot swivel 360 degrees and is restricted by a pin in the back of the ball. A non restricted ball, in contrast, does not have this pin, meaning it can move more freely 360 degrees.
Design Features
These clamping screws are made from mild steel with a chemically blacked finish for enhanced corrosion resistance with the ball in the end being manufactured from hard steel. The thread on these screws are ISO standard metric coarse pitch. At the end of the gripper, the face is flat or smooth, these are also available with serrations for additional grip.
