What are Ball Lock Shanks?

Ball lock shanks are precision-engineered components used as part of the ball locking fixturing system. They are known for their superior quality and reliable performance.

Ball lock shanks typically consist of a cylindrical body with a ball mechanism. The ball lock mechanism ensures a secure and strong fit and easy release when engaged with compatible counterparts. The ball lock system in steel if often found in Horizontal Machining Centres and Vertical Machining Centres where the system is used to provide a quick and accurate method of locating fixtures onto machine tables.

Their versatility and compatibility with a range of equipment make them an ideal choice for various professional applications. With their robust construction and precise engineering, ball lock shanks offer enhanced efficiency and reliability.

Design Features?

Ball Lock application requires at least 2 sets of shanks, receiver bushings, and liners. The liners are placed into the fixture plate to insure extremely accurate positioning. If more than shanks are required, for example to provide additional hold down force, omit the liner bushing so that these additional holes will not interfere with your primary locating holes. The ball lock mounting system enables fixtures to be exchanged quickly, in some cases less than a minute and provide a position repeatability of +/-0.013mm.
