What are threaded inserts and how are they used?

WDS Keylocking Threaded Inserts serve the purpose of swiftly restoring threads that have been stripped, impaired, or depleted. This is achieved by introducing robust new threads, either for enhancing the existing equipment or for initial installations. The installation and removal process of WDS Inserts is straightforward and hassle-free, necessitating no specialised drills, taps, or pre-winder tools. These inserts incorporate keys that are driven into the base material's threads, effectively securing and anchoring the insert in position.

How are these threaded inserts installed?

For visual instructions, refer the image above. Below is the detailed instructions:

Drill & Tap: Drill out the hole with the suitable standard tap drill with a standard 82-100 degree angle. Then tap the new threads with a standard tap.

Screw in the Insert: Screw the insert into the tapped hole until it is 0.25-0.70mm below the surface.

Drive the Keys Down: Using a hammer, drive the pins down on the proper threaded insert installation tool. This can be purchased from WDS separately.
