What is a spoked handwheel and what are they typically used for?

Mounting Hole Type

The bore at the centre of these WDS handwheels is machined to an H7 fit tolerance, and a precision broached keyway is added with a JS9 width tolerance and a length tolerance of +0.2mm. Having a keyway, as opposed to a plain bore, provides the advantage of securely transmitting torque and preventing rotational slippage when connected to a shaft, ensuring a reliable and stable connection. WDS also offers a range of parallel and Woodruff shaft keys designed to fit this keyway, available under part numbers WDS 682 and WDS 683.These handwheels also have cross drilled set screws designed as an additional shaft connection.

Handle Type

This handwheel features a folding revolving grip, which means that the handle can be rotated while also being folded when not in use. The folding grip may reduce the risk of accidental snagging or damage when not in use. The grip's folding capability allows users to collapse it for regular operation of the handwheel, or extend it for precise and fine-tuned adjustments as needed.
