What is a quarter-turn lock cam?
Quarter-turn lock cams are mechanical components used with WDS standard quarter-turn locks. These cams are configured with various offsets and profiles to ensure precise and secure locking mechanisms. When engaged, quarter-turn lock cams rotate a quarter-turn to either lock or unlock, making them essential components in applications where quick and reliable fastening and release are needed, such as in industrial equipment and enclosures.
What sets type A and type B cams apart?
The main difference between a type A and type B quarter turn lock cam is offset orientation. A type A cam has an offset that veers away from the lock head, while a type B cam has an offset that bends toward the lock head. These different offset configurations are chosen based on factors such as the depth of the door frame and the size of the door to ensure proper and effective locking mechanisms.
Understanding limiter and non-limiter cams
A limiter quarter turn lock cam is designed with a notch that restricts the cam's rotation to a specific degree or angle, ensuring precise control. In contrast, a non-limiter cam enables full, unrestricted rotation, making it suitable for applications that require a complete turn for locking or unlocking. Cams with limiters can only be used with locks designed to accommodate limiters, while non-limiter cams can be used with any lock.
