Oil, Water and Gas Industry

Explore WDS Components' standard parts essential to the oil, gas and water industry.

Every year, billions are invested into the industry to fuel development across infrastructure, transport, electrical lines, and general efficiency systems internationally. Production of these elements is subject to environmental and ethical factors, regulations and finance readily available. These major considerations can cause constraints to companies such as slow growth or limited resources which is why it is so important to select the right standard parts for the industry which can help efficiency and productivity both internally and externally.

As a member of the WDS family (it's free to register online), you'll have access to over 25,000 3D CAD images perfect for assessing the component fully before purchasing. These downloadable files are compatible with all major CAD software such as SolidWorks, ME10, inventor, Catia and more. Plus, if you sign-up, you'll receive emails from us with all the best articles and guides on the industry, our latest news and new product releases- what more could you ask for!

Hand Knobs

We offer a range of hand grips and thumb screws perfect for an array of applications.

We cover a variety of types including star grips, mushroom pull knobs, thumb nuts, quarter turn screws and a popular favourite amongst the oil, gas and water Engineers, wing grips.

Wing grips are ideal for applications that need an adjustable nut or screw as these can be simply tightened by hand. Select models are available with coloured caps giving them a distinct visual reference. Alternatively, T grips are excellent for manual pulling or lifting action applications providing an ergonomic handling surface. Our hand knobs are available in plenty of colours, sizes and materials including stainless steel which is ideal if you're seeking parts with durability, resistance and longevity. If you're seeking a more lightweight and cost effective solution, we also supply hand knobs in Bakelite and polyamide form.

Our Engineers have designed hand knobs with loss prevention. These are kits compiled of a hand knob or thumb screw with a trusty, clear, nylon lanyard and nut to secure your pieces together. Attaching the lanyard to a fixed down piece of machinery or its accessories is easy and means you won't lose the screw it's connected to. This solution will work great in factories and production areas if you work near, above or around machinery or moving parts.

Hand knobs with loss prevention help to retain time and productivity when working with grips on, near or around machinery.

Levelling Feet

We supply an array of levelling feet to suit your application. Whether you're looking for grade 316 stainless steel levelling feet to safely stabilise a surface in the medical and pharmaceutical industry or you need EHEDG levelling feet to meet industry standards for use in kitchens or breweries within the food and beverage environment, we've got your parts covered. Our four main types of machine feet include:

  • Steel plated
  • Stainless steel
  • Extended base
  • Anti-Vibration

Recently, one of our customers used a collection of our levelling feet on a water pipe project to successfully improve the utility line. The company that specialises in confined space engineering found themselves 200m underground inside a pipeline with a 900mm diameter and proceeded to cut the pipeline to support the upkeep and better the services offered to customers on behalf of a major water company. Check out the picture below of their phenomenal handy work demonstrating the effectiveness of our machine feet used to support the rim of the pipe.

To support the maintenance and upkeep of your levelling feet, we offer a variety of accessories to accompany the parts. For example, our neoprene non slip pads are designed to be applied to the base of a levelling foot to prevent noise, movement and the marking of floors. If you're looking to customise levelling feet, you can purchase swivel pads which provides you with the strong stem and base but with more movement in terms of angles.

Hoist Rings

Lifting eyes and hoist rings are the perfect attachment to heavy loads when they need moving or transporting to certain areas. We use alloy steel and stainless steel to provide the parts with durability and longevity to suit extreme environments which these parts are particularly prone to in the oil, gas and water industry.

Stainless steel has a number of properties highly beneficial to hoist rings when exposed to harsh conditions. One of the most protective elements of stainless steel is corrosion resistance. If you'd like to read more about stainless steel such as the difference between stainless steel grades, head over to the Tech Spec page where you can find more information on technical aspects plus thread dimensions, spanner sizes and tolerances for holes and shafts.

Hoist rings are ideal for lowering parts into deep, well-drilled holes or tall water containers. We manufacture them to a very high standard with loads ranging from 400 Kg up to 4200 Kg capacity, perfect for a variety of applications. Lifting eyebolts can be used for a variety of applications, for example, you can also find them in our sport industry section where they're used for hanging punching bags in boxing and fitness ropes in gyms.

You can choose from vertical hoist rings, pivotal lifting rings and side hoist rings to best suit your design and engineering preference. Each hoist ring comes with a certificate of proof test to support any safety considerations you may have. If you require more advice on the best hoist ring or lifting eye to get, contact our Technical Team on 0333 045 5443 or use our online contact form to request more information.

Handwheels and Hand Levers

Hand Levers can be used in several different ways and are ideal for clamping actions or as adjusting handles. Here, at WDS Components, we offer a selection of hand levers which help to extend the leverage on nuts and accurately adjust applications. These levers are perfect for improving the capability of hand tightening and proving more control to the user.

Our range of adjusting handles, also known as clamping handles, are a simple and helpful tool to use as a clamping component. They are operated by lifting the body of the handle and rotating to the desired location then released, offering a quick adjustable clamping lever. The smart design of these levers ensure that precise positioning and control is achieved, especially when space is limited. To prevent corrosion and bacterial growth in important processes like filtration and treatment, WDS use 316 grade stainless steel with both male and female threads.

You'll also find on our website, an extensive range of handwheels, perfect for controlling gas pressure in large machines, opening and closing transfer points between along the distillation process or carrying out simple functions such as increasing or decreasing liquid volumes across water systems.

In our spoked hand wheel section, we've made selection even easier by offering filters to find the best handwheel for you. This includes sorting products by material (including metals and plastic), grip (fixed, revolving, tapped or none) and hole type (keyway, pilot, press fit, round and square). If you need more help deciding, you can always get in touch with our Technical Team on 0333 043 5443 or by filling in your query using the online contact form.

Set collars are ideal for positioning tools and attachments to a shaft.

WDS sell a variety of shaft collars and set collars perfect for the oil, water and gas industry. A number of different product types within this category are available in lots of sizes which are ideal for positioning tools and attachments to a shaft such as securing the likes of gas and water pipes. Using an adjustable screw version allows the set collar to be tightened easily and released freely. Our whole range includes:

  • Shaft collars
  • Semi-split shaft collars
  • Double-split shaft collars
  • Threaded shaft collars
  • Keywayed collars

Within our semi-split shaft collar section, you will also find set collars with indexing levers available in both steel and stainless steel. These indexing levers are ideal for this industry as they offer 24 different locking positions. Once you've secured your collar to the shaft, the handle can be moved easily for aesthetic, organisation or improved productivity so it doesn't get in the way of other components, enabling users the opportunity to create stronger systems.

Fasteners

Don't forget, you may need fasteners to secure your standard parts and components so head over to the machine and hardware section where you'll find coupling nuts, studs, screws, washers, hex nuts and more to suit your application.
