Swivel End Screws

What does swivel end mean?

Swivel end refers to the ball point of a screw, which has a smaller diameter than the threaded section of the screw. This allows the ball point to be inserted through a threaded hole. This style of screw is commonly called thrust screw or thrust spindles due to the capability of combining the swivel screw with a swivel thrust pad.

Our improved range of swivel end screws include some diverse variations, perfect for applications where uneven surfaces prevent flush fittings. The range includes:

Types of swivel end screws available

This variety of swivel end products includes a number of types, sizes and materials to suit your budget and application, which are detailed below.

Improved range of swivel end screws, spindles and levelling feet

Hand Knob Thrust Screw: Black oxidized steel threaded swivel ball screw with nylon swivel pad and either star, scallop or palm grip hand knob attached. The nylon swivel pad is supplied loose and can easily be snapped on or off. The hand knobs are available in two materials, PA6 Nylon which is a highly reliable thermoplastic or Bakelite, a robust and durable material.

Hand Knob Thrust Spindle: Black oxidized steel threaded screw with swivel ball end and either a star, scallop or palm grip hand knob attached to the head.

Swivel End Screw with Thrust Pad: Swivel ball end screw with internal hexagon and nylon thrust pads. These screws are available in either, zinc plated mild steel or 304 stainless steel. The nylon thrust pads are supplied loose so they can be easily snapped on or off when needed. This particular style with the internal hexagon is also known as a grub screw give its short internal hexagon located at the head of the screw.

Spindle for Toggle Clamps: Steel zinc plated swivel spindle with internal hexagon and nylon thrust pad.

Levelling Foot with Internal Hexagon: Swivel end levelling foot with internal hexagon, ball point end and loose nylon thrust pad. These swivel end levelling feet are available in both zinc plated steel and 304 stainless steel.

What are swivel end screws used for?

As the range above demonstrates, there are many uses for swivel end screws which is due to the diameter of the ball point being smaller than that of the thread core. This key feature enables the component to be fitted at the ball end, and then fastened accordingly.

These hand knobs thrust screws / spindles are more than ideal for clamping applications where only manual adjusting is sufficient. The swivel end combined with the swivel thrust pad allows the hand knob to be secured to the contact surface even if the surface is uneven.

Spindles perfect for applying clamping force to a large surface area.

Spindle for toggle clamps are specifically designed to work with toggle clamps where a large surface area needs to be clamped and clamping force needs to be spread.

Swivel end levelling feet are ideal for keeping applications evenly mounted to ensure that accuracy can be controlled. The swivel end levelling foot is particularly useful where the ground surface may be uneven but the application needs to be level, for instance in 3d printers, measuring equipment and many other physically controlled environments.

New range of thrust screws & spindles, designed to be used in clamping applications where manual adjusting is required on a part that is not flat.
